It's amazing how things begin and where they can go from there.
It may have started with a mouse but Walt was obviously was full of ideas and the foresight to take it further and create a mouse that a 3 year old in Japan recognises.
Bill Bowerman of Nike started with a waffle iron and a design idea and started playing around with sneakers.
People are amazing, they can start with nothing and build their own empires. If only ...

Too late. Starbucks died about a decade ago when they went for growth at all costs. Humpty Dumpty cannot be put back together again. Not unless they shed about 90%+ of their stores and retain only those employees who know how to do more than push buttons.

Great stuff!

I love how he balances the preso with:

• Play is not anarchy
• Play has rules
• There are rules about WHEN to play
• In divergent (exploration) mode, we most need playfulness
• In convergent (execution) mode, we need to be more serious

Also, great short list of helpful behaviors learned as kids:
Exploration: Go For Quantity
Building: Think With Your Hands
Role Play: Act It Out

Thanks for sharing this Paul!
